Porsche concluded the 2024 season in the FIA World Endurance Championship WEC together with Porsche Penske Motorsport by winning the drivers’ world championship title. At the finale of the world’s top series in Bahrain, the two Porsche 963 of the works team finished in positions three and eleven.Stuttgart. The factory drivers Kévin Estre from France, André Lotterer from Germany and Laurens Vanthoor from Belgium cheered particularly loudly as they crossed the finish line after eight hours of racing on the Bahrain International Circuit: The trio in the number 6 Porsche 963 were crowned world champions.
At the end of the FIA WEC and North American IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship season, Porsche Penske Motorsport can look back on an almost perfect record: the team won a total of seven titles on both sides of the Atlantic in the top classes Hypercar (WEC) and GTP (USA). Porsche customer Hertz Team Jota’s number 12 entry was already confirmed as the winner of the FIA World Cup for Hypercar Teams ahead of the final. Likewise, at the penultimate round of the season in Fuji (Japan) Manthey PureRxcing secured the FIA Endurance Trophy for LMGT3-Teams, while the drivers’ trophy went to the Briton Alex Malykhin, Klaus Bachler from Austria and the German Joel Sturm.
